Congresswoman Hits Back With New ACORN Bill

A few weeks ago Congress passed the Defund ACORN Act (it was attached to another bill during a motion to recommit), a bill designed at defunding the beleaguered community organization. While many Democrats voted for the bill, most seemed caught flat-footed. Most of Congress appeared to be caught not knowing what they were even voting on. Later examination of the bill revealed that it was so broad as to not only ban federal funds from going to ACORN, but also to major defense contractors like Lockheed Martin and Northrup Grumman.

Rep. Betty McCollum (D. MN) released a new bill (H.R. 3679) to counter the previous one, this time taking the errors in the Defund ACORN Act seriously. The question seems to be: would Republicans eager to defund a community organization allied with Democrats also vote to deny funds to other organizations that have been found to have defrauded the government? This would not just include defense contractors, but also health care companies like Pfizer.

The key point in McCollum’s bill is that the penalty of cutting federal funds to an organization would only occur if the organization was found guilty. The Defund ACORN Act simply stated that an organization needed to be under investigation, which could be cause for abuse by federal, state or local prosecutors.

We’ll see how those 345 congressmen who voted for the Defund ACORN Act vote on this bill if it is brought up.

It may trigger when an employee, way down on the totem pole, is convicted of anything.

 Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., himself admitted that “This probably sounds a little crazy to some people that we are voting on something before we have seen legislative language.” Indeed.

Required final language, as well as a Congressional Budget Office cost analysis, on the committee’s website for 72 hours prior to a vote was rejected 12-11.

Baucus’ excuse - that it would take his committee staff two weeks to post the bill online – sounds a little crazy too. Finance Committee members are the only ones who vote based on the “plain English” version of a bill, not the legally-binding language.

U.S. Representative John Culberson had already posted the entire 1,118 page bill in its entirety on the internet hours before on that very morning.

There is something, about, Pres. Obama and the Democrats in the Congress, pushing this Health Care Reform Bill, despite Pres. Obama's Poll numbers dropping, is unprecedented for a Politician, who will be up for re-election. And the same for the Democrats in the Congress, in both Houses.

But there might be more to these celebrity plugs for a tyrant who jailed more of his subjects than did Hitler or Stalin than the usual celebrity vacuity upstairs.

Texas Harris County Jail System For The Mentally ILL Target Of Documentary

Radio talk show host Dan Patrick, Houston, Tx. 700 am KSEV, received a call on his personal cell phone from a reporter Josh Rushing. Dan wondered how did this guy get his cell number. After the caller explained who he was and the reason he called, lead to on air interview. Subsequently more calls came into his personal cell phone, from all the local alphabet affiliate TV news stations. They were all complaining that this Josh Rushing had an exclusive interview with the Harris County Sheriff's Jail system for the mentally ILL, with the inmates as well.
Spokesperson for Harris County Sheriff, Alan Bernstein told them all tuff stuff- they were not going to be allowed to report on the reporter for the documentary.
This all led to a big brew ha.
Dan asked Alan Bernstein to call in also.
Josh Rushing said in the on air interview that the way these media things worked was--Dan interrupted, said that he was a 30 year Broadcaster for TV and Radio. Set this Josh guy in his place. Asked, did he have an exclusive or not. Josh replied with a yes.
Dan then began to ask if his documentary was a hit piece on the Harris County facility for the mentally ill jail system. Josh said that it was not. He is a former US Marine, and had no intentions to do so.
The story goes this way. Texas has the largest Jail system for the mentally ill, especially after the Liberals demanded all the Ill folks be released from all the institutions across the country.
Remember 10 years or so ago, they (the ill) were let out on the streets.
Harris County has the largest facility.
And then there are the returning Vets, Vet Nam and Desert Storm, to today's Iraqi war Vets, suffering from post disorders. Getting into trouble with the Law.
Why was this reporter doing a documentary? Josh Rushing is the Al Jazeera English Network Reporter in the US.
Alan Bernstein called in for the interview. Dan asked, did the Sheriff approve the documentary? There was a little back and forth speak Public Relations type. Dan ask did the Sheriff disapprove? Alan Bernstein said the Sheriff did not. So Dan established the Sheriff will let the documentary proceed. Alan Bernstein began to explain why he would not let the alphabets in to report on the reporter on the same day. They were welcome to do their own the day after. But is not this a big story- Al Jazeera doing a doc. in the alphabets home town?
Why is this a big deal?
As it turns out there are rumors that the Sheriff Adrian Garcia has his eye on the House of Rep. seat of the now setting D-Gene Green, US Congress Dist. 10. Who says he will not seek another term. Maybe does not want to face the Sheriff in the Primaries.
Why is this a big deal? Well you see there was a Town Hall Meeting by Rep. Gene Green, who demanded that any one who wanted to attend show voter ID, that they were in his District.

So, Dan suggested that the Sheriffs Department Video the Reporter doing the Documentary.
Alan Bernstein said that that was a good idea. We will have to find out at a later date if the Sheriff had their tape running.
Dan, after the interviews, played a Utube piece, where Josh Rushing reported that the Christens and the Jews were as hateful as the Al Quada Terrorist.
Dan Asked the Sheriff not to allow the Documentary to proceed, On the Air, He Asked the Sheriff to reconsider. We will see later. If the Documentary is to happen- It Will be Broadcast On Utube September 17, 2009.
Why was Dan drawn into the center of this brew ha, a radio talk show host from a independent radio station? Houston has big Corp. Radio stations.

Fascism: limit profit, impose capital leves, and regulate business in great detail

FASH izm, is a form of government which centers all power in a single party headed by an absolute dictater. Benito Mussolini, who ruled Italy from 1922 to 1943, was the first Fascist dictator. He named the party after the fasces, a symbol of authority in ancient Rome.
The fasces stood for the official's power to punish or put to death, and for unity. The symbol consisted of a bundle of birch or elm rods bound together by a red strap. The blade of an ax projected from the bundle. Today fasces apear on the back of some USA Dimes.
Germany had a fascist government under Adolf Hittler. Under fascism, the government rigidly controls the religious, political, social and economic life of the country. Private ownership is permitted, but both labor and management lose their freedom.
The police state is used to crush opposition or dissent. Secret police spy on the whole population, and remarks against the leaders leads to swift and severe punishment. Opposition parties are dissolved. Educational, athletic, and recreational organizations are usually brought under the control of the fascist authority.
Extreme Nationalism. Fascism is highly nationalistic. It tries to identify its principales with the country, so that disagreement will look like treason. Some other country, or some other group within the country, is usually picked out to serve as "the enemy" and made to appear as the cause of all evils or misfortunes. Sometimes it combines racial and religious bigotry.
To work well, fascism needs the sincere consent of a large part of the population. To maintain this consent, the fascist must cut off the people from any information which might cause them to doubt the complete truth of fascist principals. Newspapers, radio, television, and other means of communication must be censored so the public will get only those facts the leaders want known. Freedom of speech and assembly must be suppressed.

Fascism maintains among the people a permanently war like frame of mind. Every citizen feels that he is mobilized against enemies of the leaders within, and against possible foreign foes. A leader usually comes to power during a period of economic crisis or depression. Near-Fascist claim to be a democracy, but with fascist traits, including the police state, militarism, and Extreme Nationalism.
